“With Bedrock, we’ve added a brand new methodology of creating deposits by way of the brand new Optimism Portal contract. This method treats ETH as a local token, in order that an L1 to L2 transaction can have each ETH and information related to it,” stated Maurelian. “To attain this, we wanted to decouple the storage of ETH from the remainder of the ERC-20 tokens in our bridge, and transfer it into the Optimism Portal.”
