Circle, in a public letter addressed to Senator Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and Chairman Sherrod Brown, D-OH, on Thursday to push again towards claims that it banked Justin Solar and, individually, had financed Hamas. 

The letter — penned by Circle’s Chief Technique Officer Dante Disparte — was written in response to a Nov. 9 letter from the Marketing campaign for Accountability which claimed that Circle doesn’t forestall illicit finance actions. 

The letter from the Marketing campaign for Accountability govt director Michelle Kuppersmith claimed that there have been ties from Circle to Solar, based mostly on “just lately revealed research and stories of legislation enforcement operations.”

Circle, in its Nov. 30 letter, mentioned, “neither Mr. Solar nor any entity owned or managed by Mr. Solar, together with the TRON Basis or Huobi International, at present have accounts with Circle.”

“To this point, the US authorities has not particularly designated Mr. Solar or his entities as Specifically Designated Nationals.  Nonetheless, Circle terminated all accounts held by Mr. Solar and his affiliated firms in February 2023,” the letter continued. 

In March, the US Securities and Change Fee sued Solar for allegedly promoting securities. 

 “As alleged within the criticism, Solar and others used an age-old playbook to mislead and hurt traders by first providing securities with out complying with registration and disclosure necessities after which manipulating the marketplace for these very securities,” Gurbir Grewal, director of the SEC’s Division of Enforcement, mentioned in a March assertion.

Each Warren and Brown signed off on a letter again in October pushing the Biden Administration to “handle crypto-financed terrorism.” The premise of the letter stemmed from a report within the Wall Road Journal which claimed that Hamas used crypto to fund its assaults on Israel. 

Elliptic, which offered the information utilized by the Journal report, refuted the conclusion saying that there was “no proof” that Hamas raised tens of millions in crypto.

Circle mentioned that it “can be pleased to debate any of the above” with each Warren and Brown.
